Launched by the Tieman Group, Holland, in December 2002, Optelec UK introduces the Traveller; a truly portable electronic magnifier. Optelec's Traveller design is the first portable CCTV with a strong emphasis on ergonomics and functionality. Designed for use at work, in school or at home, the Traveller's unique features give each user the maximum freedom.
Visually impaired people of almost any age will be able to experience the advantages of a fully portable product. The Traveller has on-board batteries, with a life of two hours continuous use - this means it can be used free from the mains, and there is no need for an external battery pack.
The adjustable screen can be set to give the most comfortable viewing angle and reading posture. The screen features a full colour photo mode and two high contrast text modes, giving the widest range of viewing options for looking at photographs, print or handwriting.
The magnification ranges from 4.5 to 16 times, with continuous linear zoom, without any pre-set steps.
The Traveller's integrated, upright writing facility means that there is no need for a separate writing stand, or the need to hold the camera unit above the page. This striking design adds to a combination of features never seen before in a single unit.
The Traveller is more compact and lightweight than any of its competitors, only weighing 800 grams, including the integrated batteries, and the option to connect to a domestic television set.
The Traveller puts an essential tool in the hands of active visually impaired people who like to maintain their independence. Carry it and use it in the supermarket, in libraries or even whilst on the move.
