At school or college, the Sentry can be used for looking at atlases and maps, completing worksheets including the use of drawing tools such as set squares and pairs of compases, electronics, using physical materials in chemistry and geology, and examining and manipulating specimens in biology and zoology.
The unique design of the swivel camera head allows students to look both at material on their desk, and also the chalkboard or front of class demonstrations without having to leave their seats. Although requiring mains power, it is easier to move the Sentry between classrooms than full-sized magnification systems, by virtue of the fact that it plugs into any compatible computer-style screen. You need only carry the camera unit and power supply, and plug into another monitor at the new location.
In the home, the Sentry with its full autofocus, is useful for crafts, modelling, needlework and embroidery, home electrics and painting and drawing.
Picture options are for a full colour image, black on white or white on black. For extra illumination, a halogen lamp is located on the camera stem which can be switched on and off as required.

Like the Sentry Desktop CCTV, the output is standard SVGA so Sentry's picture can be shown on any computer monitor. The Sentry Split-Screen CCTV can be used in combination with a PC to show either the CCTV camera picture or the computer picture on the screen, or to combine both CCTV and computer pictures simultaneously on the computer monitor.
