Zoomax Portis CCTV Reader
General information
Portis is an exciting new portable electronic magnifier which connects to; and fits neatly under a laptop computer. Portis has a full colour auto-focus camera which can be used like a standard electronic magnifier for reading printed information, and also used for distance viewing e.g. reading blackboards/whiteboards. Portis uses the laptop's screen to display its magnified image and with its internal battery Portis is not dependent on the batteries of the laptop.
The bespoke software supplied with Portis enables the visually impaired user to control the camera and choose the type of image displayed i.e. full colour, black & white, enhanced mono with infinitely variable background and foreground colours. The software also allows infinitely variable split screen options, with the user being able to store there preferred options for function key selection. Users can also take a selection of instant photographs from the camera by simply pressing a function key. The photograph is then immediately stored as a file on the laptops hard disk for future retrieval, this feature is extremely useful to capture the information displayed on a blackboard/whiteboard.
