Please read all instructions before commencing, then follow them VERY carefully.

You will need the index CD, if you do not have one please contact DotLine on 0870 321 7099.

This process will erase all your Index embosser settings. Make a note of all the settings in setup A, B and C before continuing.

Explore the Index CD, DO NOT RUN IT, there will be a folder called "software". Copy this folder onto your hard disk, we suggest you create a new folder called "Index" and put it in there.

REMOVE INDEX CD.

Look in "Software" (in your new folder) in there you will find folders called "Everest" and "Basic" use the one which relates to your embosser. In these folders there is a "Windows" folder in which you will find two folders "3 bit" and "4 bit".

For an Everest if your serial number is below 15000 use "3 bit" and if it is above use "4 bit".

For a Basic if your serial number is below 25000 use "3 bit" and if above use "4 bit".

Open either "3 bit" or "4 bit" folder which ever is relevant, inside is a file called "font.bin" rename this to any name such as font.old.

Now look on your Braille Maker CD, in the Index folder you will find a file called "font.bin" copy this into either the 3 bit or 4 bit folder, the one you have been using.

Before continuing check you have no other Windows programs running.

When you have done this run "firmware.exe" found in your folder "software". You will be given the options "Get latest firmware from internet", "Get firmware files from CD" and "Browse"; choose "Browse", select "Next", it will then say "Firmware found in current directory" select OK, then OK again. Choose your model of embosser and serial number, select "Next". You will then be warned to shut down any Windows programs you have running, select "Next". Choose language "English" select "Next" again. You will then be prompted to connect your embosser to the computer, as well as doing this load it with paper and to turn it on whilst pressing the "Value" key on the front panel of the embosser. Your embosser will beep repeatedly, select "Next". Choose the port your embosser is connected to from the list and select "Update firmware". The embosser will then stop beeping and the firmware will be updated, when finished the embosser will feed a couple of sheets of paper.

Restore you Index embosser settings A, B and C.

Set the embosser to a different setup to the one you use for Braille – i.e. Setup B or C.

Set the number of characters to maximum – 42

Set the graphic dot distance to the smallest value

You should now be able to print Dotty Moon.
